After 48 years of operation, Contemporary Craft has purchased a permanent home at 5645 Butler Street* in Pittsburgh's Lawrenceville neighborhood, the community of makers. We are poised at a moment of transformation.
At a press event on February 14, joined by the Lawrenceville community and neighbors, our long-time friends, volunteers, media, and public officials, we shared the exciting news about this new beginning, the first step toward a sustainable future for this organization.
In the next 12 months, the building will become Contemporary Craft's "forever home" - a welcoming, inclusive space for cutting edge art and innovative programming. We hope it will be a place for everyone to explore their creativity - regardless of age, background, or experience. The new space will continue to be always free of charge, because a date with art should never have to be a special occasion.
**Edits: On May 24, 2019, the City of Pittsburgh Addressing Committee has verified the change of address on the permanent home of Contemporary Craft as 5645 Butler Street instead of its old address 5637 Butler Street.
